Precision Steel is a subsidiary of Paducah, KY-based Harper Industries. Harper Industries, Inc. is a $250 million holding company ranked by Engineering News-Record as the 279th largest construction firm in America. It is comprised of seven operating companies in construction-related enterprises, including Precision Steel.

Harper Industries, Inc. has undergone dramatic growth and functional change since its formation in 1980 as a holding company for construction related companies. Consolidation was undertaken to enable each operating company to function autonomously with its own management and profit sharing.

Harper Industries evolved from Harper Construction, Inc., which was founded in 1949 by J. M. (Bill) Harper. The firm operated in Paducah, KY, in various partnership arrangements from the 1940's to the 1960's, undertaking two or three construction projects at a time and establishing a reputation for quality work with area owners, subcontractors, and suppliers. The Harper family of companies now includes Morsey, Inc., Federal Materials Concrete, Inc., Metro Ready Mix Concrete, Inc., Vanguard Contractors, Inc., Harper Construction, Inc., Frontier Materials Concrete, Inc. and Precision Steel.

Precision Steel is a full service structural steel fabrication facility located in Western KY in the industrial park of Calvert City, KY, near the Tennessee River. Precision Steel was formed in 2001 when Metal Fab Corporation was purchased out of bankruptcy. Metal Fab was a successful operation for 14 years. Precision Steel performs all types of steel fabrication for construction projects, commercial, and industrial applications.

Precision Steel offers industrial clients a variety of services. In addition to structural, architectural and special metal fabrication, with erection services available, the company also specializes in pressure vessel construction and repair. Precision Steel has the ASME "U" stamp for manufacturing unfired pressure vessels, and the National Board "R" Stamp, recognized by most jurisdictions for the repair of pressure vessels and boilers. Precision Steel also offers industrial blasting and painting services from their state-of-the-art, 15,000 sq.ft. paint facility. The firm is also AISC Certified for structural steel buildings.
